Remember Thief? Thief, The Dark Project, or Thief, the Metal Age?

So here I am: a self proclaimed “professional” composer, sitting in a recording booth, wearing only my underwear and a pair of boots. I’m stricken with sweat; beads running ferverously down my lanky, semi objectionable body. I’m holding my breathe for the take, internally struggling – my body screaming for air. For the past four hours I have been running on spot, walking on spot, crouch running, crouch walking, creeping, crawling, and jumping on every surface imaginable. Concrete, tiles, carpet, wooden planks, a basin of water (yes, water), mud, dirt,  grass, and hay serve as my various surfaces as I perfect my acrobatic sound recording footstep fx – naked of course.

I am, a tone freak. A composer? Well, not right now – more like sound designer (hey! you take the work as you get it!)…. but irregardless, a pure bred tone freak.

It’s been an exciting job, recording all the voice overs and as much sfx as possible for The Dark Mod – a total doom 3 makeover in the vision of our oldschool favorites Thief, the Dark Project.

Well, in midst of endless phone calls to people that never (I love you folks!) pick up, I figure, “hell, lets start a blog.”
But not any blog, no, a blog about music in video games! A blog about the great works of Nobuo Uematsu (duh, Final Fantasy), Tommy Tallarico (Earthworm Jim anyone?),  and the latest and greatest award sweeping Jason Graves (Deadspace)!
Sigh, stacking my own work against these giants doesn’t bode well for my self confidence… it DOES, however, give me something to work towards. But that’s another blog post!

Relishing in the delight of a new blog, and soured by the bad coffee currently in my right hand,
Marcus Zuhr
